Please prepare before you bare
To get the best results and to achieve silky soft skin, you need to prepare it pre-wax.
1. Gently exfoliate and moisturise a week or two before your salon appointment as this will help the hairs break through, and be easier to be pulled out from the root. You don't need to use anything expensive, just a soft dry body brush or exfoliating scrub.
2.Shaving is the enemy
If you want to remain hair-free for as long as possible, you really should grow the hair for three to four weeks before getting waxed. That means NO shaving in between – if you don't let it grow long enough then not only will
it really hurt when you're being waxed, but you won't get a smooth finish, and the hair will start to grow back before you know it.
3.Moisturise well on the days leading up to your appointment. Healthy, well moisturised skin allows the wax to release more easily. Too much moisturiser could coat the hair and interfere with the wax's grip, so avoid moisturising on the day of your waxing session.
THE BIKINI AREA
4. Whether you prefer a Brazilian wax, Californian wax or regular bikini, keep skin in the bikini area scrupulously clean. Waxing can leave skin vulnerable to infection, and areas of the body that are normally warm and damp are more prone to bacterial growth.
TAKE A RETIN-A BREAK
5. Certain medications can sensitize skin to waxing. Retin-A creams do amazing things for fine lines, acne and uneven pigmentation, but they also leave skin susceptible to injury during waxing. Discontinue retinol-based products for two weeks before waxing. Accutane users should stop taking their medication for a month before waxing. Before making any changes to your prescription medications, talk to your dermatologist.
