Waxing Treatments

Waxing Information
Waxing removes the hair from the root this means you will stay hair free for longer. The hairs will grow back softer and finer the more you wax. You will need to grow the hairs for 3-4 weeks before your first wax to get the best out of your wax then after a few waxes you will be amazed with the results no more prickly stubble. Waxing also removes the dead epithelial cells (Top layer of skin) this will leave your skin soft and smooth and not as dry.
You may have noticed that when you come into our salon, we will use different methods of wax application for your hair removal, hot wax or strip wax. They both have their own advantages and disadvantages depending on what area of your body is getting hair removal and your skin and hair type.
Hot Wax
Hot wax is ideal for use over smaller and more sensitive and delicate areas of the skin; therefore we recommend this is used on your bikini area, face and sometimes underarms depending on the sensitivity of the clients skin or thickness of the hairs.
Strip Wax
Strip wax on the other hand is ideal for use over larger areas with thicker skin and softer hairs; therefore we recommend this is used on areas such as the legs, back, chest and arms. Strip wax provides a speedy application with extra strong grip.
Double Dipping
All our waxing also comes with a ‘No Double Dipping Policy’ which means the spatula used to scoop out the wax will never be re-dipped back in to the wax pots. And why’s this you ask? Well putting it simple its to stop our wax pots being filled with bacteria and hair, which I assume no one wants used when having their waxing done!!
So just know whatever the case we are experts in waxing and advanced waxing and you will be in safe hands here at Hills Beauty regardless of the area you are having waxed!!
Please prepare before you bare
To get the best results and to achieve silky soft skin, you need to prepare it pre-wax.

1. Gently exfoliate and moisturise a week or two before your salon appointment as this will help the hairs break through, and be easier to be pulled out from the root. You don't need to use anything expensive, just a soft dry body brush or exfoliating scrub.

2.Shaving is the enemy
If you want to remain hair-free for as long as possible, you really should grow the hair for three to four weeks before getting waxed. That means NO shaving in between – if you don't let it grow long enough then not only will it really hurt when you're being waxed, but you won't get a smooth finish, and the hair will start to grow back before you know it.

3.Moisturise well on the days leading up to your appointment. Healthy, well moisturised skin allows the wax to release more easily. Too much moisturiser could coat the hair and interfere with the wax's grip, so avoid moisturising on the day of your waxing session.
THE BIKINI AREA
4. Whether you prefer a Brazilian wax, Californian wax or regular bikini, keep skin in the bikini area scrupulously clean. Waxing can leave skin vulnerable to infection, and areas of the body that are normally warm and damp are more prone to bacterial growth.
TAKE A RETIN-A BREAK
5. Certain medications can sensitize skin to waxing. Retin-A creams do amazing things for fine lines, acne and uneven pigmentation, but they also leave skin susceptible to injury during waxing. Discontinue retinol-based products for two weeks before waxing. Accutane users should stop taking their medication for a month before waxing. Before making any changes to your prescription medications, talk to your dermatologist.
After Care Advice
* Don't swim for 24 hours
If you've had a pre-holiday wax, keep up the moisturising while you're away as pool and seawater can be very drying. Follow your salon's aftercare advice and don't go swimming until 24hrs after your waxing to avoid infections.

* Be VERY careful when sunbathing
Whatever you do, DO NOT expose the waxed body parts to the sun until 24-48 hours after your waxing as this sensitive skin will easily burn and you could be left with permanent pigmentation marks (dark brown patches). If you start to feel freshly waxed areas tingling when sunbathing then apply a higher SPF, this is especially important on the upper lip.NO Sun beds

*No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only).

*No saunas, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments.

*No Fake  tanning until 24-48hours.

*No sport, gym work or other exercise.

*Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.

*Wear clean, loose fitting clothes.

*Don't use any perfumed products on the waxed area.
