Fashion moves back to the heart of the story in The Devil Wears Prada 2, a sequel that revisits the world of major luxury houses. Among them is Alameda Turquesa, a Portuguese luxury design brand founded by Ana and Carolina Santos more than a decade ago.

With the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2-the long-awaited follow-up to the original film, released exactly 20 years ago-fashion once again takes centre stage, along with the influence of the leading luxury maisons that shape one of the world’s most sought-after industries. Between Hollywood glamour and the discipline of haute couture, a Portuguese name makes its appearance.

How Alameda Turquesa made it on screen

It began last year, when the film’s production team contacted Alameda Turquesa. The label, created by Ana and Carolina Santos over a decade ago, was asked to send a selection of pieces, but nothing was assured: “They selected several of our pieces to be sent over, but even then, nothing was guaranteed. We didn’t know whether we would appear, or in what way,” the Porto-based founders told SIC Notícias.

What initially felt like the start of a dream turned into months of waiting, with no certainty that the brand would end up in one of Hollywood’s most iconic wardrobes. Confirmation only came last week, with the cinema release: “Even though we had been in touch with the team, we only found out when the film premiered. We went to the cinema and managed to see our pieces in one of the scenes,” Carolina Santos says.
