Fitbit founders unveil the Luffu Link connected wristband

The founders of Fitbit have returned to the connected wristband market. Having previously launched the Luffu app, they are now unveiling the Luffu Link wristband, which combines health monitoring, note-taking and safety features.

Before becoming a Google brand, Fitbit operated as an independent start-up. The Mountain View company acquired the business for $2.1 billion in 2021. Its co-founders, James Park and Eric Friedman, left Google in 2024 and subsequently created a new company called Luffu. Initially, Luffu offered only an AI-powered health-tracking service. It now competes directly with Fitbit and Google in the connected wristband sector.

Luffu Link health tracking without a screen

The company founded by Fitbit’s co-founders has just introduced the Luffu Link wristband. Like Whoop bands and the Fitbit Air, this new device does not include a screen. However, it moves away from the highly sport-focused styling of its rivals.

Alongside health and wellbeing tools, including activity, step, sleep, heart-rate and heart-rate-variability tracking, the Luffu Link also provides AI assistant capabilities and safety functions.

GPS and LTE to reassure loved ones

Luffu’s wristband includes GPS and an LTE connection. For safety, it has a feature that lets the wearer request help from their contacts by pressing a button if something goes wrong. Another option enables users to share their location with loved ones and reassure them through notifications.

Voice notes and Luffu Link availability

The Luffu Link also has a microphone, allowing its wearer to use voice commands to interact with the wristband. When synchronised with the Luffu app, this feature can record notes about health, medication or tasks that need completing.

Compatible with Android and iOS, the product offers 5 hours of battery life and is water-resistant to depths of up to 50 metres. Its announced US price is $299.99. The creators of the Luffu Link intend to launch the new wristband in early 2027. It is also worth noting that the wristband operates with a subscription available through the Luffu app.
